What is Laser Therapy Used For?
Laser therapy is an effective treatment for many conditions. It can reduce pain, inflammation, and promote healing. Treatments are usually quick, lasting 3-10 minutes. Patients typically begin to see results after just a few treatments. At Total Health & Rehab Center, we offer various types of laser therapy to address different conditions, such as neck pain, shoulder pain, and back pain and sciatica.
Argon Lasers
Argon lasers are commonly used in ophthalmology to prevent retinal detachment, treat glaucoma and perform other medical procedures. They emit a blue-green laser light (wavelengths of 488 nm and 514 nm) which absorbs hemoglobin, melanin pigment and water within the human eye.
Nd:YAG Lasers
Lasers work by emitting a wavelength of light that destroys diseased cells and promotes healing. They have numerous applications in medical and cosmetic surgeries. Nd:YAG lasers are commonly used for skin rejuvenation, pigmentation removal and tattoo removal. Additionally, they have the capacity to treat reticular veins and broken veins.
CO2 Lasers
CO2 lasers are widely used for skin resurfacing, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, tightening skin, and increasing collagen production. Furthermore, CO2 lasers can minimize pore size as well as brighten under eye circles.
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
Low level laser therapy (LLLT) utilizes photo-stimulation of specific wavelengths that stimulate biological cell receptors in your body to speed up repair and healing of damaged tissues – much like how plant photosynthesis boosts energy production in mitochondria (the powerhouse within cells). Research demonstrates that low-level laser therapy (LLLT) significantly reduces inflammation, relieves pain and increases blood flow to injured tissues. Furthermore, it aids tissue regeneration and encourages hair growth. This treatment also reduces oxidative stress and encourages ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production – an essential chemical your body requires to remain healthy. LLLT is used for a variety of medical conditions, such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, shingles, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome and headaches. LLLT is safe, non-invasive and has few contraindications. To learn more about laser therapy and other treatments we offer, feel free to contact us at Total Health & Rehab Center.
