Upon entering our office our receptionist, Kim, will greet you with a smile and a handshake. She will welcome you as a member of our family. We will request you fill out our new patient forms to be reviewed by the doctor and placed in your confidential health chart (you can find the majority of these forms online for download in the New Patient Center). The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition.
Next you will have a consultation with Dr. Michael Minett to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Michael Minett to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether the services we offer will you meet your goals.
After your consultation, Dr. Michael Minett will inspect your complaints and perform a complete examination, testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to get a full understanding of your condition. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions and assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their problem areas themselves!
Report of Findings
Once all the information and examinations have been performed, Dr. Michael Minett will give you a report of all findings from those tests to answer the most popular questions patients have:
- Can you help me?
- What are your recommendations?
- How long will it take to get better?
- How much is it going to cost?
After discussing with you your health history, results of the exams and reviewing any x-rays or tests, Dr. Michael Minett will discuss specific recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you.
Patients will generally be provided with their first gentle treatment on their first appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is interactive with you so you can express any concerns you may have. Most people feel some improvement after their first treatment.
Prior to leaving, patients will be instructed on what they can do at home to continue the healing process. If you are in pain when you first come into our office, this may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches. Everybody is unique and different and therefore each patient requires a unique and customized plan.
Over time you come to find out that the foundation of a healthy lifestyle is based on maintaining healthy posture, good spinal alignment, eating a healthy diet, taking whole food supplements, keeping your weight under control and managing stress! We enjoy helping many of our patients obtain a life full of health and vitality!
